AM Departure for Ghadames oasis
The
visit will consume the whole day and
includes the visit of the ancient Berber city
still
intact and the phantastic landscape at
the
three-countries-triangle Libya-Tunisia-Algeria.
NB: It
will be decided in Ghadames if we stay
there
overnight in a well equipped desert hotel and enjoy the breathtaking
sunset.
If we
stay one night at Ghadames our
return
will be on Saturday, 26th June.
The visit
of the Qabr Aoun Lake in the far south might take one to two
additional days. We do not need
to make a
decision now.
Any
change of the return date will
not
require additional air fare payment.

Dear
participants of the FPA Libya visit:
1) Your
visas will be stamped in your passports, which you can collect from
the FPA office Tuesday
evening
or Wednesday noon.
2) The
tickets Cairo-Tripoli-Cairo will be ready in the FPA office on
wednesday, too.
3) You
either collect the tickets from the FPA office, or if you prefer you
can get them from Nabil Youssef on
Saturday, 19 th of June 2010 from 11.3o hrs. AM, in the old Airport
, Terminal one (1), where he will wait for you.
4) The
departure will be at 14.00 hrs (2 PM). You should be at the airport
not later than 12.15 hrs noon.
5) We
arrive at Tripoli airport at 17.00 hrs (5 pm). We shall be received
at the airport and be transferred to the excellent "Grand Hotel"
("Al Funduq Al Kabir") on the Sea Shore.
6) A
first meeting with officials of the Information deepartment and a
first stroll through Tripoli is
scheduled for the evening.
Important:
We are
booked for seven nights. However I propose to add two more nights
for unforgettable extras: A visit of the unique and well preserved
Oasis town of Ghadames on the three-countries-triangle of Libya,
Tunisia and
Algeria,
and the following day a visit to a phantastic desert lake next to
the southern Libyan city of Sebha, next to the seldom visited ruins
of the ancient civilization of the Garamants. Such an offer is a
rare chance.

Dear
colleagues,
DEADLINE FOR LIBYA VISIT
Those of you who intend to pariticipate in
the
FPA visit to Libya and are already on the list kindly
submit their passports to the FPA Office not
later than 4 o' clock PM (18.00 hrs) next wednesday
9th
of june 2010. The visa can only be obtained
through the Cairo Foreign Press Association which
delivers the passports to the Libyan embassy.
Individual applications at the embassy for joining
the
FPA journey are not considered.
On
wednesday, too, please pay at the FPA office the
sum
of LE 1000,- (one thousand) in addition to the
first LE 1000- payment, in order to enable us to
obtain the airline tickets in one single transaction.
Meaning: Those who did already pay LE 1000,- pay
on
wednesday LE 1000,- more. Those who did not
pay
anything yet have to pay on wednesday LE 2000.-

Dear colleagues,
The FPA prepares a press visit to Libya.
Libya's revolution leader Muammar Al Gaddafi told FPA chairman
Volkhard Windfuhr during a recent interview, that he welcomes and
would receive a group visit of journalists, members of the Cairo
Foreign Press Association.
The director of the state foreign press department in Tripoli is
preparing the visit.
The six day visit starts on Saturday 19 June 2010. The visit
includes meetings with the foreign minister, the minister of
economy, the minister of planning, decision makers of the 'man made
river', an important oil field and a refinery, apart from visiting
projects of desert irrigation and reclamation, visits of old
Tripoli, new urban centres, a ride on the brand new railway, the
unique Roman cities of Leptis Magna and Sabratha. An unforgettable
two day excursion to the historic Berber oasis of Ghadames concludes
the visit.
A detailed visit plan is not yet ready, as the appointments with
leader Muammar Al Gaddafi and other decision makers have still to be
fixed.
The transport inside Libya will be cared for. The hotel rate
bed/breakfast per single room does not exceed 70 Dollars. The flight
fare Cairo-Tripoli-Cairo will be around LE 2500 + - but may be
reduced according to the number of passengers.
Those interested are kindly invited to:
1- Send us their firm commitment as quickly as possible
2- Make a down payment of LE 1000,-
3- Convey to us photocopies of their passports
4- Indicate in written form their media, position and exact office
and home addresses, telephone and mobile phone numbers, as well as
their e-mail addresses.
TV crews are welcome and enjoy special facilities.
